Failing the exam does not mean the end of the line

Interview with Denis Z.

Hello Denis!

What did you study and how did you end up dropping out?

I studied computer science at the University of Passau. After the tenth semester, the Bachelor’s degree programme came to an end for me due to failed exams.

How did you come to CIB?

During my ninth semester, I already applied for jobs as a Java developer. In the process, I became aware of the position at CIB. It was exactly what I was looking for. The job advertisement also said that junior developers also get a chance, so I applied to CIB. After that, I had an interview very quickly and was hired a few days later.

How did you get started?

I started in support. Here I first got to know the various CIB products and worked on my first programming tasks. I quickly gained a lot of new experience.

Where are you now?

I am currently working as a Java developer for one of our customers.

What do you like best about CIB?

What I like best about CIB is that as a new employee you are very well received by all your colleagues and the great working atmosphere.

What tips do you have for dropouts?

If your degree doesn’t work out, but you were able to gain initial experience in software development during your studies, there’s a good chance that you’ll get a chance at a company.

Thank you for sharing your experience with us!
