Successful migration from Camunda 7 to CIB seven at over 900 banks under ATRUVIA AG
ATRUVIA AG provides reporting and accounting services to around 900 banks. This involves carrying out complex processes for calculating financial data for each bank. These processes include running around 60 batch programs per bank every night. In addition, ATRUVIA enables banks to make corrections during the day and repeat certain parts of the calculation process.
The challenge
ATRUVIA originally used Camunda 7 as its orchestration platform for managing complex batch processes. Due to the end-of-life (EOL) of Camunda 7, a decision had to be made about a new solution. Switching to Camunda 8 proved unattractive, as it would not only have involved higher migration costs but also have meant switching from an open-source solution to a closed-source one. This decision would have made ATRUVIA dependent on a commercial provider, which was considered a significant disadvantage.
The Solution
After a detailed analysis, ATRUVIA decided to switch to CIB seven. The decision was based on the fact that CIB seven is a continuously maintained open source software, thus ensuring independence from a single vendor. In addition, CIB seven offered 100% compatibility with Camunda 7, which enabled a smooth migration.
Implementation
The migration to CIB seven was very successful and swift. An initial alpha version was made available early on, and minor UI errors were quickly fixed. The backend engine of CIB seven proved to be stable right from the start and was able to meet ATRUVIA's existing requirements without any restrictions.
Our client particularly emphasized the close cooperation with the CIB seven team. ATRUVIA felt well supported at all times and was able to ensure that the BPM engine optimally met its specific requirements through regular communication.
Results
-
Compatibility and reliability
CIB seven proved to be a fully compatible replacement for Camunda 7, especially when it came to orchestrating demanding batch processes.
-
Independence
The switch to the open source solution CIB seven saved ATRUVIA from dependence on a commercial provider, which was an important factor for the company.
-
Scalability
CIB seven enabled seamless scaling of the complex batch processes that are executed daily for around 900 banks.
-
Flexibility
ATRUVIA particularly appreciated the opportunity to submit feature requests directly to the CIB seven team. This allowed the solution to be tailored even better to ATRUVIA's specific needs.
-
Future-proof
For ATRUVIA, the optimisations to the Camunda 7 codebase and the migration of the cockpit GUIs to Vue.js are important factors for a future-proof BPM engine.
Prospects
ATRUVIA is very satisfied with the performance of CIB seven and is looking confidently to the future. The ability to request future features gives the company the flexibility it needs to continuously adapt the solution to its changing requirements. CIB seven will continue to form the basis for orchestrating complex calculation processes at ATRUVIA and ensure that bank data calculations can be carried out efficiently and reliably.
Conclusion
The migration from Camunda 7 to CIB seven was a complete success for ATRUVIA. The solution meets all functional and technical requirements while strengthening the company's digital sovereignty. The smooth drop-in migration and close collaboration with the CIB team convinced ATRUVIA to choose CIB seven as its long-term solution.
