What is CIB smartER?
CIB smartER is an intelligent research and analysis tool (RAG system) that combines semantic search with powerful large language models (LLMs).
The solution makes it possible to efficiently search large document collections, provide precise answers to natural questions, and prepare relevant content in a comprehensible manner—including source references.

Intelligent document search
Ask natural questions to large document collections. CIB smartER provides accurate answers through semantic search and AI-powered analysis.
Contextual metadata processing
In addition to text content, CIB smartER also takes into account security-related classifications (MAC) and other metadata to narrow down results to targeted and context-sensitive results.
Well-founded answers with references
All natural language responses contain direct references to the respective sources in the documents. The aim is to achieve maximum transparency and traceability.
Advanced search function
In addition to the AI-powered search, traditional full-text search, synonym search, and advanced filtering options are also available.

Institutional support and joint development
CIB smartER was developed as part of the “KnowHow” research and development project in collaboration with the Austrian Federal Ministry for European and International Affairs (BMEIA) and the AIT. The result sets new standards in intelligent information retrieval.
The project is funded by the Central Innovation Program for SMEs (ZIM) of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection (BMWK) in Germany. The aim is to support the digital transformation in the search and processing of document content.
