In October 1989, a remarkable journey began at CIB: from a small start-up with dedicated founders, the company grew into an international entity with 150 employees. From the very beginning, CIB Group has helped shape digitalization and today drives innovation with cutting-edge solutions in the fields of process automation and artificial intelligence.
This anniversary moment celebrates not only the past but also the vision of a dynamic, sustainable future full of innovation. Looking back, it’s clear that the CIB Group has set important milestones over the past year toward an innovative and successful future.
In November 2024, CIB seven 1.0 was launched as the open-source continuation of the Camunda 7 BPM engine — with a roadmap for versions 2.0 (May 2025) and 2.1 (October 2025), offering a new web interface and the adoption of the latest Camunda 7 features. The guarantee of long-term support, including maintenance and security updates beyond 2025, along with the introduction of a community program and marketplace for extensions, establishes CIB seven as a powerful and forward-looking software solution in the BPM sector.
Building on the great success that CIB seven has already achieved in the European market shortly after its launch at the end of 2024, the CIB Group has taken the next steps this year to continue expanding the sustained success of its open-source platform. In collaboration with partners from the United States, the CIB Group is committed to driving digital transformation with innovative, AI-powered process solutions now also in the U.S. market. The seamless, location-independent digital solutions are also inspiring international customers in the United States.
But what would the CIB Group be without its equally renowned events? In 2025, CIB will host several outstanding events that will take center stage.
Just in time for the start of the year, in January 2025 – in cooperation with the Munich Datageeks – the second AI expert meetup took place in Munich with over 150 participants. In addition to presentations on innovative AI research, including multimodal document classification and the vulnerability of Deep Reinforcement Learning, the event covered the importance of continuous AI development and its applications in business and research.
The now-regular meeting of the CIB User Group for Banks also took place this year in May in Berlin. The event brought together over 80 participants from 51 banks, including cooperative and private banks. In addition to expert presentations on AI-based automations in banking processes, the growing community of over 70 German banks values information exchange, networking, and close collaboration between CIB and its banking clients.
The OpenAI DevDay 2025 On October 6, 2025, numerous groundbreaking AI innovations were showcased, which are expected to significantly impact both developers and businesses. AI will become more broadly applicable—from programming and autonomous agents to seamless integration into apps. The new tools and models are designed to enable developers to work faster, leverage more powerful AI capabilities, and simplify AI integration into applications.
And what other highlights await us in October?
On October 28, 2025, Munich will once again be the stage: the first CIB seven Community Day will become the hub of a rapidly growing community of users and developers, fostering experience sharing around the CIB Group’s open-source platform, featuring numerous talks, networking opportunities, and insights.
The AI Thought Leader Summit on October 30, 2025, also in Munich, featuring exciting contributions from speakers at companies such as Google Cloud, MongoDB, etc., is the meeting point for innovators, practitioners, and visionaries shaping the future of Artificial Intelligence.
