In October 1989, a remarkable journey began at CIB: from a small start-up with dedicated founders, the company grew into an international entity with 150 employees. Last week was a special day of celebration and reunion for our team from Portugal—colleagues from the Lisbon and Faro offices—and Managing Director Ulrich Brandner.
CIB welcomes the merger of Collabora Productivity and allotropia with enthusiasm, as this strategic consolidation significantly enhances the Open Source Office landscape that we have long supported and invested in. This move unites two of the most capable engineering teams in the LibreOffice ecosystem—combining scale, innovation, and deep commitment to digital sovereignty.
The future belongs to more flexible working models - we at the CIB Group are convinced of this. As an international IT company with locations in Germany, Austria, Portugal and Spain, we introduced the four-day week back in September 2021 and have now firmly integrated it into our everyday working life.
Last Thursday, our long-awaited Christmas dinner was held at the Marina of Las Palmas. In a warm and festive atmosphere, we enjoyed an evening that not only marked the end of a successful year, but also the beginning of a promising new phase for our Las Palmas de Gran Canaria location.
The Christmas tree is already decorated. In a few weeks we will say goodbye to a successful 2024. We look back on many special moments and would like to thank our customers, partners and friends for their trust.
Ulrich Brandner, founder of our CIB Group and CEO of CIB compass Unipessoal Lda. in Portugal, was a guest speaker last week at the Algarve Tech Hub Summit 2024, which took place from October 23 to 25.

On Thursday, July 25, 2024, CIB software GmbH celebrated the opening of its new office in Fürth. We took the opportunity to invite our customers, neighbors and friends to celebrate with us.
